Just Cause for World Series of Poker
Release dates are a funny thing in video games. Take Eidos' Just Cause for example; Just Cause is on store shelves in Europe right now, but gamers in the USA won't see it in the stores until next week. Another good example is Activision's World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions, now available in the USA, but not slated for Europe until December of this year.
I've never really understood why all games can't have a universal release date, or consoles for that matter. Almost reminds me of Sony's world-wide launch plans for the PlayStation 3, well, world-wide minus Europe. I guess what works in the favor of one area of gamers generally works against another group.
Lets get back to Poker for a moment. While the majority of Poker games to hit the consoles have been plagued with glitches and standby cheaters World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions has not seen any of the ill affects associated with easy bankrolling. Granted, the game has just recently been released, but generally within twelve hours of a game hitting Xbox Live we see the results.
Another plus for World Series of Poker is the incorporation of the Xbox Live Vision Camera. With the Vision Camera and World Series of Poker using Digimask technology you can wrap an image of yourself around your characters, creating a striking rendition of yourself in-game. TeamXbox has a couple of comparison shots here and here. Pretty nifty.
