Yep, you heard right. Four customers were shot with bb gun pellets while waiting for a chance to purchase a PlayStation 3 console at a Best Buy retailer in Lexington, Kentucky. There weren't any serious injuries from the odd event, and the shooter is still at large. The motive is unknown, my guess is it was just some kids being (to be nice) idiots. Still, the release of the PlayStation 3 console brings the next generation console wars to full frontal contact. The PS3 has quite a shortage on it's hands, and buying one from a retailer will be a chore, similar to the chore it was during the Xbox 360 launch (I don't recall any shootings when the Xbox 360 hit the shelves though).

My advice on getting a PS3 — be patient. While you could get lucky and grab one off the store shelves somewhere, chances are it won't be easy. Eventually, Sony will work out the manufacturing issues and have more PS3 units all over the place. I know little Tommy doesn't want a card saying "you'll get a PS3 sometime," but Sony wants nothing more than to sell them, so they'll be available as soon as possible.
