Upgrading Your PS3 Hard Drive for More Storage Space

Monday December 1, 2008

Some time ago I wrote an article on how to quickly upgrade your PlayStation 3 hard drive, something many gamers had asked me to post. Seagate recently announced the availability of 500 gig SATA 2 laptop hard drives (the SATA 2 description is the important factor for a PS3 hard drive). At any rate, I felt it was worth noting since many visitors have benefited from the original how-to article, especially with downloadable and removable media files on consoles becoming more popular.

If you missed it the first go-around here it is again, how to upgrade your PS3 hard drive in 5 to 10 minutes. You don't need to be an expert in electronics, computers, or consoles either. Read the full article for all the details.

Tried to upgrade with the new seagate drive and the ps3 just went to the original configuration screen. Next screen said it can’t find the drive and try reloadind the 2.53. This is the new two usb port ps3 and the internal harddrive is oriented differently. Has anyone actually tried this?
