Crackdown Agility Orbs and Secret Orbs
Crackdown is mainly a hybrid platformer / action / third person shooter, but is does have a few basic light RPG (role playing game) elements. Specifically, the way in which you can level up your agent and his skills. There are five skill areas that can be leveled up; agility, explosives, strength, driving, and firearms.
The agility orbs, quite obviously will level up only agility, which happens to be the most helpful skill to level up early in the game. There are 500 agility orbs scattered throughout the game, and throughout the course of the game finding them will become second nature. The secret orbs not only level up agility, but they also level up the other four skill areas. While both orbs emit a sound when you are close to them, the secret orbs emit a louder, more prominent sound, so finding them might be a bit easier to some gamers. The problem is, while agility orbs are always high up and generally easy to spot, the secret orbs are often hidden pretty well.
Below I will list a few key tips to help you find all of the agility and secret orbs within the game, and further down I'll list a few external resources that can prove useful when you are trying to collect the last few remaining orbs to complete your collection.
Agility Orb Hunting Basics
There really is no secret to finding the agility orbs, they are always out in plain sight, and the ones that aren't are almost always on top of a structure that you cannot see clearly until you are really high. Agility orbs are never within a structure or building, so as long as you have looked over the surrounding fairly well, don't fear missing one that isn't in the open areas.
When you enter an area in Crackdown, be sure to head to the rooftops, there are tons of orbs everywhere upon entering a new area - grab all of the ones you can reach. Another key area the developers like to place these are high up on the rocky cliffs, be sure to check them all. Make a mental note of the ones you can see but cannot reach so you can return later when your agility is at level 4. At level 4 there are no orbs that cannot be reached.
Secret Orb Hunting Basics
Unlike agility orbs, secret orbs are often hidden in places there may be no reason to visit within the game. There really is no limit to where these secret orbs can be located. Anywhere from behind signs on building, under bridges, over bridges, within tunnels and caves, up on scaffolding, on the coastline - its all fair game.
While it won't help you find them all, I've notice that I can find a few that I previously missed by doing the Agility races (indicated by a green dot on the map) really slowly. If you do the races slow, they tend to go near quite a few blue secret orbs, just listen for the sound they make. When you hear one, you can bet it is close by.
