What About Halo 3 Campaign?
As stated previously, we didn't get a chance to look at the single player campaign, aside from seeing a few in game cinematics flashing every now and then from a projector, the entire event was based on the multiplayer aspects of the game. When I asked Bungie's Studio Manager about the on-line co-op feature in Halo 3, he basically said if we can do it right and have a 100% solid experience in the final build, then it will be there. Honestly, I don't think we'll see co-op in Halo 3, but lets face it, would we want a half-baked co-op feature? I think not.
From talking with Frankie and the other Bungie reps that were at the event, they want to make sure that the campaign mode is every bit a part of the Halo 3 experience as the multi player game is. Somehow, I don't think it will be, but not because of lack of effort on the developers side, but because of lack of expectations on the gamer's side. Over the past three years since Halo 2 hit the shelves and left gamers with a bitter sweet ending, I think the majority of gamers are looking forward to Halo 3's multi player experience more than the campaign — luckily, they are in for a treat.
Final Halo 3 Preview Event Thoughts
If there is one thing about Halo 3 that is certain, it is that Bungie and Microsoft are putting everything they have straight into it. The developers are just as hyped about what they have created as gamers are hyped about what they will be playing when the game is released. Speaking with Frankie and Harold at Bungie you can really tell they have a great amount of enthusiasm for the game, and a huge amount of pride in what they have done with it so far, and this pride is warranted with the way the beta build looks and plays.
I'm not here to recommend games or tell you what to play, but I know I'll be playing Halo 3 when it comes out, and I'll have all sorts of tips, hints, Easter eggs and glitches to report. (although Harold says they aren't really into Easter eggs, we know they are)
