Oblivion PC Cheat Console will not Load!
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on PC is a massive game with an equally massive number of cheats and codes. Some gamers however have run into a bit of a problem. Specifically, the cheat console will not load when they attempt to get the console up so they can enter a cheat code.
Although I'm not exactly sure what the technical answer is to the problem, I do have the solution. If you are reading this then you probably are one of the unlucky Oblivion gamers that can't seem to get the cheat console to load. This is a very specific problem with a very specific solution, and it only affects gamers using Window Media Center Edition.
Got Windows Media Center Edition?
If you have Windows Media Center installed on your PC as the primary operating system, there is a conflict between the software and the video game Oblivion. As I said before, I don't know the full details of the conflict, only the existence of it.
What is the Solution?
It's painfully simple actually. Windows Media Center PCs (the majority of them at least) come with a remote sensor connected to them to allow the use of a remote control to control the media aspects of the PC, such as TV, videos, and images.
In order to bring up the cheat console in Oblivion you will need to unplug the remote sensor from the PC. Once it has been unplugged, the cheat console in Oblivion will come up just like it would on any other PC. Congratulation, you can now help yourself to tons of Oblivion cheats and hints. And guess what, they'll work!
