Thanksgiving comes to World of Warcraft in the form of traditional food, outfits and tie in lore. This is a holiday full of sharing and closeness and - cooking. Have an alt that has never seen the inside of a kitchen? This holiday is the time to power level ones cooking easily and cheaply.
And the fun part about all that cooking and slaving over the stove your character will do? That food can be used to complete the lucrative daily quests. They are lucrative in that they net that character experience (or gold if you are at level cap).
Recipes
Unlike normal recipes, these seasonal recipes are not sold individually. The thanksgiving recipes are actually given out as a bundled together cook book:
Candied Sweet Potato
Cranberry Chutney
Pumpkin Pie
Slow-Roasted Turkey
Spice Bread Stuffing
But as much as you'd love to make a bunch of these and level your cooking, keep in mind there are dailies that require you cooking skills.
Doing the Dailies
Undercity, Orgrimmar, and Thunder Bluff (the Horde) and Ironforge, Darnassus, and Stormwind (the Alliance) all give out a daily requiring a home cooked item for the holiday. Thing is many of them require you to travel and get mats from another city and to cook the needed items while having the quest (this means no precooked items). These very places including Tirisfal Glades and Elwynn Forest also provide a bunch of mats to use for other places requiring alot of travel.
So visiting and stocking up on mats from those main cities (like say 60 apiece) will save you a few days travel. Then again you are doing these quests not just for the money or the experience. You're doing them for the clothing and the Turkey Shooter (for another achievement).
Thanksgiving at Everyone's Table
The thanksgiving attire (the Pilgrim's Hat and a choice between the Pilgrim's Attire, Pilgrim's Dress, or Pilgrim's Robe and the extra touch of the Pilgrim's Boots) is needed for achievements including killing a certain instance boss and taking a trip to all of the major cities to eat at their tables.
As soon as you look ready to share some slices of Pumpkin Pie and play nice, go visit each city. The tables are normally right out side the city. Keep in mind unlike the friendly achievements such as passing around food or tossing it, at an enemy table all you have to do is to merely sit in a chair. A quick seat and a run is all you need to do to gain credit for the achievement Pilgrim's Peril.
