Starting Your Death Knight

Death Knights; once they were announced as being included in World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King expansion, many an uproar was had. WoW's first hero class, the Death Knight (or DK) became both a sign of a competent player who leveled other characters previous - or a lousy one that jumped head first into a class they did not understand.

But the DK isn't as so bad at first glance. It isn't exceedingly easy, but it was created with the seasoned player in mind. The class comes with items one would expect from a level 55 - bags, gear, some cash, this being before a player finishes the quest chain.

It is a class that aside from those few things has you start off with no talent points and barely anything else to your name.

The DK isn't that unique, as they posses many similarities to other classes.

When you think of a the abilities of a DK you don't readily think dps. Many even joke they are just Warlocks in plate. You wield a sword like a Warrior. But your cast diseases not unlike a lock casting curses. You have pets but you don't manage them like a Hunter. A DK is almost a blender of all classes in some way or fashion. But aside from similarities the DK through and through stand alone in what they do with said abilities in the tank or DPS role.

Rune-forging

DKs even come with their own class specific weapon enchants, or rune-forging. At the Ebon Hold are located rune-forges. Rune-forges are used by Dks to engrave runes along their weapons with DK centric attributes. The permanent stat increases the runes place on DK weapons blow anything standard enchanters can do out of the water. Each are specific to the type of weapon being rune-forged along with attributes that help in DK tanking and dps.

Think in advance what role you plan to shoot for.

Think on what role type you are going for before you complete the DK quest chain. This is because the quest chain rewards specific gear at it's end. Not just any specific gear, but rather good quality blue gear especially the cape and weapon.
