Phantasy Star Universe - How to Raise a GH-450 Healer Partner Machinery

Raise the ultimate partner machinery for melee characters - the healing GH-450.

By Jason Rybka, About.com Guide

Why Raise a GH-450 Partner Machinery?

The benefits of having a GH-450 Partner Machinery in Phantasy Star Universe are really only beneficial to you if you do not have a dedicated force in your party. This partner machinery, once evolved to level 80, can be taken on missions with you and will buff and heal you while you play. Sure, it may not be as good as having a dedicated foretecher in the party, but at times these GH-450 PM are better healers.

The guide below will explain briefly what will be needed to raise a healer PM (or healer mag, as they are often called). This applies to Phantasy Star Universe on the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 2. This is the ideal PM for melee types of characters that want healing and buffing on the battlefield, and still want a decent PM to make melee weapons. The final stats on this PM will be 80 striking, 0 ranged, 30 technic, and 0 armor.

The Basics to Raising a GH-450 PM

If you've raised a partner machinery already then you know, for the most part, what types of materials will raise different stats on the partner machinery. Listed below are the evolution levels the PM should have in order to become a GH-450 at level 80.

1st Evolution - Level 20 - GH-202

  • Striking - 9 [strike must not reach 10]
  • Ranged - 0
  • Technic - 11
  • Armor - 0

2nd Evolution - Level 50 - GH-304

  • Striking - 30
  • Ranged - 0
  • Technic - 20 [tech must reach 20 by level 50]
  • Armor - 0

3rd Evolution - Level 80 - GH-450

  • Striking - 50
  • Ranged - 0
  • Techic - 30 [tech must reach 30 by level 80]
  • Armor - 0

Final Evolution - GH-450 Cannot Be Fed

  • Striking - 70
  • Range - 0
  • Technic - 30
  • Armor - 0

Partner Machine Feeding Basics

For this partner machinery to evolve properly you will need to purchase, or farm (collect), the correct materials. The majority of the materials can be found on missions, while others (such as technique disks) can be bought. Here is one of the simplest lists explaing what each type of material will raise or lower. This is not an all inclusive list, as it would take too much space, and need to be changed as new items are added. The star value of an item effects how much it will increase or decrease an area by.

Mates - Raise Stike (allot) and Raise Technic (a little)
Items like monomates, dimates, trimates, moon atomizers, etc. will all raise strike allot and raise tech a little. The ratio isn't a science, but the key thing to keep in mind is that you can increase strike allot with the right type of mates.

Technique Disks - Raise Technic
Purchasing tech discs (such as reverser and resta) will raise the tech stat without altering any other stat, very useful for getting the technic level to the right spot before evolving.

Rods, Wands, Staffs - Raise Technic (allot) and Lower Strike (a little)
Any wands, rods, or staffs you come across, or purchase from other shops can be fed to your PM. Doing so will increase the technic stat by a large portion, while decreasing the strike stat, useful if the strike stat is getting too high.

Melee Weapons - Raise Strike (allot) and Lower Tech (a little)
Feeding the partner machine melee weapons will lower tech a little while increasing the strike by a large amount. This is particularly useful once the tech stat on this PM reaches 30.
