The PlayStation 3 is Sony's newest effort to their highly successful line of PlayStation consoles. The third generation of PlayStation will be released in the United States on November 17, 2006, although it appears that initial quantities will be quite limited. Oddly enough, after stating that they were prepared for a word wide launch, Sony switched the European PS3 release date to March of 2007. Perhaps this is due to Microsoft's somewhat botched launch of the Xbox 360, a direct competitor of the upcoming PS3 unit, along with the Nintendo Wii.
Sony has stated that the PlayStation 3 console will be backwards compatible with all previously released PS One and PS2 video games. The PS3 will come in two flavors, the biggest difference of the two will be the size of the hard drive. The PS3 Basic will have a 20 gig hard drive and the PS3 Premium will have a 60 gig hard drive. Advantages of the premium PS3 will be the hard drive size, built in WiFi, and buit in flash card readers. Both versions feature Blu-ray disc drives, HDMI ports, and bluetooth controllers (one each). Full PS3 specs and details are here.
Now, I'm not here to tell you the specs of the console, but more interested in talking about what is really important to video game players. No, we're not talking about the ability to connect to external devices such as the Sony PSP, or a PC system, but the games that will be appearing in the PlayStation 3 Cheats section.
Various sources indicate that the lauch title lineup for the PlayStation 3 varies anywhere from 8 - 30 games. It seems the developers and Sony want to keep things under wraps until the day is actually here. Our PlayStation Guide, Roger Altizer has a list of titles here , but let me point out the ones that I'll be looking at come PS3 release and beyond:
These are not all launch titles, see here for launch titles.
- Call of Duty 3
- Genji: Days of the Blade
- Madden NFL 07
- Need For Speed Carbon
- Ridge Racer 7

So, out of all the games on that list (which are the games I am looking forward to) I can narrow it down to three games that I must play. Assassin's Creed (which will also be available on the Xbox 360), Killzone PS3 , and Devil May Cry 4 !
