Here a few tips for Harvest Moon on the SNES as to what item you need to give to who and a few other helpful tips and cheats.
Take the “Rolled Babbage” and give it to Maria. Now you will need Strawberry wine so fist grow some strawberries and allow them to grow. Then pick just one and give it to Karen she will give you wine later in the game. Now go back later in the game and again pick up another strawberry and give it to Karen she will be back with Strawberry Champaign. You will also need some Veryberry wine just take any fruit or berry and head to the vineyard and meet up with Kai. In return she will make you the Veryberry wine. The next item and step must be done in the summer and will not work at any other season or time. Get a walnut head to the old women in the rocking chair “Elli’s Grandmother” She may be on the right side of the porch or in the center depending the time of day. Hand here the walnut and in return back for a visit she will have made you the Walnut cake you need.
Okay the game requires a lot of tasks and errands to run as well as chores etc. You can save some time by using a few tricks. You will need eggs now you can’t get eggs with out raising chickens and feeding them. This takes time and also throws the timing off and is done on purpose to make the game more challenging. So to save time here is a nifty trick. Take one or two chickens and throw them up on the roof. For some reason you do not need to feed them and they will lay eggs about every other day just remember to get on the roof and collect them.
The Music Box Explained
Ok you will keep hearing about the Music box while talking with the folks around the village. Let’s save some time here the music box is needed since when it is fixed it plays a love song. This will be given to the girl you wish to marry. You need to locate it first and then get it fixed. Head to the doghouse and line yourself up with it and the crate that hold your veggies. You will also see the field and be lined up to that as well. Just heat straight for the tree you found the map in. Now turn so that the tree is on your left and the doghouse is on your right. Using the map walk to the point where both are lined up perfectly and dig in this spot. You will need the hoe in order to get the Music box and it takes about ten strikes to hit it. Once you have it you will find it is rusted take it to Rick the tool shop keeper. He will fix it for you and now you have the mysterious music box. Note you can only dig for it during the summer time!
Want to marry that special girl?
You will need to get married but first you need to know each girls likes and dislikes. Another part of the game that requires a ton of errands and tasks that can become frustrating. So here is the key for each girl to save you time. To woe Karen follow these simple tips make sure you constantly talk to her father and the purple bandana guy. In spring and fall, you can find wild grapes. Give them to her and her father all the time. Visit her in the bar when it is open. Sometimes Karen is on the beach near Ann's house. You will need to get the blue feather from Rick and give it to her. Also Karen does not like it when you keep asking her questions so always speak to her dad if you want to impress her.
Now for Elli she likes fish, eggs and milk. Give it to her every day either eggs, milk or fish any one will do. Elli will fall in love with you if you rapidly give any of those three to her.
Now for Ann she likes it when you talk to her so make sure you do this every day. She also likes pink catmint flowers and wool. You should show her your dog and other wild animals often she also enjoys cakes and sweets.
Now that you know what each girl likes you need to follow another rule. If you want to marry a girl first present her with the music box as a gift then dance with her at festivals, give her presents every day, and be very nice to her. When the heart in the bottom of the right hand corner is red or pink, buy a blue feather from Rick's Tool Shop and give it to her. If she says yes, you will be married the next Sunday. Pretty easy really once you know the tricks and it sure saves time.
Magic Fish really
Go to the fishing pond and then get some beans from the pond by catching a fish when you have already caught one. You will get beans from the man, pop them in your mouth. Then you will spit them into the pond. Then a Magic fish will jump out of the water and rewards you with 40000 G.
