Suppression Fire

Definition: Generally this term refers to fire from a weapon within a game that is not meant to necassarily hit the target, but more of a distraction, so the enemy cannot return fire, and is forced to take cover.
Also Known As: decoy fire
Examples:
If you have your troops lay down some suppression fire, then you will easily be able to cross the bridge without being seen or hit.
