Hop, Skip and Slam!
This one takes practice and some luck as well as knowing the track. You will want to hang right alongside the A.I. or online racer and when there is a drop or jump, line up so you get enough air to slam on top of them for the ultimate payback — the vertical takedown ! You will want to hit the boost right before the jump or drop to achieve this and it will take some practice. It’s possible to reach the vertical goals with ease, but this is a great way to gain attention online.
Using Trucks, Buses and Trams
Burnout Revenge has a ton of trams trucks, and buses on certain tracks. You can use these to your advantage to score takedowns with these instead of having them being a pain. In a way it’s the same as the old psyche takedowns, only now they have new names. You will want to bait the A.I. or the other racers to nudge you when the time is right and there is one of the above vehicles nearby. Since you can only check the smaller cars you can use the ones listed above as weapons. Once they nudge you and swap paint, keep your eye on the road and right when a heavy vehicle is near you, swerve to make them hit any of them. You get credit for a special takedown and really they took themselves out.
This is the hardest and will also work with walls and archways found in the game. It will take a little time, but if you mastered the takedowns in Burnout 3, it won’t take long to learn when it will work and when it won’t. It was stated in the Takedown 3 write up that 40 or more takedowns is possible using these tips in a Road Rage event. You may get 35 but they made it harder and after mastering the different takedown methods offline, you will get a gold medal every time and earn the vertical trophies at the same time.
How To Practice What You've Learned
Now it’s time to practice the takedown methods. An easy way is pick a Road Rage event and after racing hit the A button to save, this will also help stack up the takedowns needed to get the 1000 needed for the Road Warrior achievement on the Xbox 360. Then simply re-race the event and try each method. For the vertical takedowns, you will need to pick a track that has jumps and slops to get the hang of the timing.
Getting the Boost at the Start of the Race
This tip is for those who are having trouble with the boost start online. While they changed the crash meter launch, they left in the times boost start. Many won’t know how do pull this off since the single- player mode all begin with the cars rolling. So here it is and works with every car in the game.
While the countdown is starting, you want to hit the gas on the number 3, at 2 hit the brakes while still having the gas on and causing the tires to start spinning. At one take your hand off the gas and time it right so when you start, you hit the gas at the exact time the countdown has stopped. This will give you the boost start and you will know by the flames as well as the message “ boost start ” on screen, you will also get a score for it.
Do not hit the “A” button while trying to get the boost start, doing so will cause you to miss it. Now, an easier way to know is by the rear brake lights. Time them to blink in the order described above and 9 out of 10 times you will get the boost start.
