This will be a two-part series. In the first part we will look at the three countries, secret achievements and basic help for those going online with Chromehounds. You won't find help for the single-player mode in this or the second part. The reason is that the single-player mode is really a tutorial to get you ready for the online mode. While it will be updated since I am still finding new things, I felt that it was more important to cover the online mode and dispel a few rumors, offer help and real info on Chromehounds that you won't find elsewhere.
Chromehounds Secret Achievements
There are secret achievements but how and what are they? (see Chromehounds achievements for more details)
There are several listed as secret and of course no help or even a hint as to what each one is. Here are the ones I know for sure exist as well as a few that are listed on the ChromeHounds forums that are simply untrue. The first one is the easiest to explain. Donate one time ten million to the country while the war is going on and you earn a medal.
The next one is a little harder. In each of the three countries there is a secret weapon, a 'behemoth hound', and you will know by the updates. It will say, for example, that Sal Kar has issued orders that their troops stay out of the oil fields for their own safety as the Government tests a new weapon. The basic message is the same for each of the three countries but there are different behemoth hounds for each country. If your squad enters that area and you face the behemoth hound you will know right away thanks to a movie intro. Destroy it and unlock another secret achievement.
Now here is where the internet and rumors start. There are not several lurking around. They are built into the server and are kicked in by the programming of the game at random. No one issues a behemoth order and after it is destroyed by a squad, the updated reports will tell you it was destroyed. The hardest part is being online when it happens and the luck of the draw. Although, Sega is making changes during each server maintenance session, so chances increase that you will face one sooner or later as the wars progress.
The next secret achievement is very hard to earn and will take a very long time to unlock. It requires visiting each country and some luck but once you unlock it, there is a way to make sure the whole squad gets it. If you collect every part including the experimental, all lottery, and single-player parts earned, you will get another achievement. While this sounds impossible, over time you should get most of the parts. Once you unlock it, have the squad leader set up a trade for the parts needed until each member get the award. You must complete the single-player mode, and downloaded parts from the marketplace do not count. It sounds impossible but it is true.
The next confirmed secret achievement is almost as hard as the last. You must fight in every section on the war map and not just once. As you know each area has four sections to conquer. You don't have to take them over but you need to win once in each to unlock this one. The rest of the secret achievements will be in the second part. Good luck unlocking the ones listed! Now quickly, there is no achievement for massive donations. It is a once and done thing. Although donating keeps the country supplied with money and may earn special parts, no other medal is awarded.
