The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints and Tips - Set 4

Tips, tricks, glitches and strategies for Oblivion on PC and Xbox 360

Oblivion Tips and Hints

The following tips and hints have been submitted from various Oblivion players from around the world. Many of them are quite useful and can help you in the PC or Xbox 360 version of the game.

This is the fourth set of Oblivion hints, see the first set , the second set , and the third set if you have not already.

Kill any Guard or Enemy

Go to a Mages Guild or a Fighters guild. Hit a member and let him hit you a couple of times, then yeild to him or her There is automatcally a bounty when you hit him or her, so a gaurd will come in. When the dialogue box pops up resist arrest and the guard will start to attack you. The members think of him as a threat and start to attack him and when he's dead you can take his inventory (you can get his guard tower key).

Use Invisibility and Chameleon Spells

One of the easiest ways to go through the game (especially the Oblivion planes) is to continuously use an invisibility spell or a chameleon spell (at 100%). No enemies will detect you, except "items" such as the flamethrowers and spinning "mines" (in the oblivion planes) . Your sneak skill will go up fast, you can get critical damage bonuses without the enemy ever detecting you, and an escape is always possible (as long as you have magika).

More on Invisibility

There are few crafty things you can do to make yourself very rich without ever really trying! One of the simplest things to do is purchase an Invisibility Spell. Cast the spell on yourself, sneak, and you can steal anything as long as you are undetected (which you should be due to the Invisibility spell). No more waiting until dark, picking the lock, and sneaking in while the owner is asleep!

Another Method to Build the Sneak Skill

Build up your sneak quick and easy by finding a guard standing next to a wall, (they are all over the Imperial City, but I discovered this in Skingrad). Sneak up behind them or near them without letting them actually see you, then just do the 'moon walk' against the wall, out of his site. I went from a sneak level of like 12 to 54 in about 20 minutes.

The Mundane Ring

There is a really cool ring when you go to "Paradise," be sure you kill or loot the body of Mankor Cameron's son and you'll find the Mundane Ring. This ring has a magic resistance of 50% and a spell reflection of 35%! If you'd rather just use a code to get the Mundane Ring, it's listed here .

2500 Gold per Week

Complete the misc quest 'Order of the Virtuouse Blood' and become Arch-Mage of the mages guild, you will get access to a chest that weekly adds 10 of any ingredient to your inventory. Kill a vampire and put it's ashes in the chest, in 24 hours you will have 11 ashes. Take them to Seridur who buys each vampire dust for 250 gold. Don't forget to keep one ash for next week.

The Flare Glitch

This is not a cheat or a tip, but rather a glitch in Oblivion on the Xbox 360 version. In the arena after you finish a fight cast flare on a light before you exit into the Bloodworks. It should extend the chain with gaps and it will bounce up and down very fast.
