What Xbox Games can be Played on the Xbox 360?
Before the launch of the Xbox 360 I posted a list of backwards compatible games . These games were from an early list from Microsoft indicating which games would have emulation software available on the launch of the Xbox 360.
Since this time, many games have been added. For a complete and up to date list of backwards compatible games visit this page at Xbox.com.
Updating the Xbox 360 Software
If you are an Xbox Live subscriber you can automatically download and install the correct emulation software for an Xbox game by simply inserting the Xbox game disk in the Xbox 360 console. The Xbox Live service will download and install the update and restart the game.
If you do not have a broadband connection, or are not an Xbox Live subscriber you can still receive the backwards compatible emulation software required to run Xbox games on the Xbox 360. There are two ways to do this.
One method is downloading the current emulation software and burning it on a disc, the other method is to order the disc from Xbox.com.
